Crusaders FC secured a 2-1 home win over Bangor with a late goal from Owen Wardell. The victory at Seaview lifts the side to sixth in the Premiership standings on 12 points after eight games.
Aaron Reid gave the hosts the lead in the 16th minute, finishing from close range. Bangor levelled through Ben Arthurs midway through the second half, but Wardell had the final say, netting the winner with seven minutes remaining.
Declan Caddell, the Crusaders manager, said his team controlled the first half but lost their way after the break. "I thought we controlled the game for the first 45 minutes, but in the second half we didn't really come out," he told reporters.
His Bangor counterpart, Lee Feeney, was left frustrated by the officiating. "I'm really disappointed the referee decided not to give what I felt were two clear penalties on Ben Arthurs," Feeney said.
The match saw five yellow cards, with Crusaders' Graham Kelly, Aaron Reid and Liam Anderson all cautioned. The result extends Crusaders' recent form to two wins in their last five matches, a sequence you can review on our stats page.
Crusaders now look ahead to an away trip to face Carrick Rangers, who sit eighth, on 3 October.
